Beschreibung
Bardan Gompa – the dramatically located Buddhist monastery of the Bardan village in Zanskar, the sub-region of Ladakh in Northern India. Ladakh, often called Little Tibet, used to be a kingdom, ruled by kings of the Tibetan origin. The majority of the people of Ladakh follow the Tibetan Buddhism hence there are plenty of Buddhist monasteries here. A large number of them, like this one in Bardan, belong to the Drukpa Lineage (order or sect) of the Kagyu tradition of the Tibetan Buddhism. Lungnak Valley, Zanskar Range of the Tethys Himalayas and the Zanskar Region, Ladakh, India. Photographed in mid-September.
