Courtyard of Ibn Tulun Mosque, Cairo, Egypt. View showing the ablution fountain and the minaret. The mosque is the largest one in Cairo, and may be the oldest mosque in the city with its original form. The mosque was commissioned by Ahmad Ibn Tulun, the Abbassid governor of Egypt from 868â884, and constructed on a small hill called Gebel Yashkur (English: The Hill of Thanksgiving)
